Which crime is persecuted more harshly in the United States? Attempted Murder or Manslaughter?
attempted murder because it was done with malice and premeditation so a jury is more likely to convict based on the intent of the person instead of the crime. involuntary manslaughter is purely an accident so jurors see it as your intent was not to kill so therefore it seems less bad. plus if you looked at it as a man planning to kill his wife but gets caught vs. a neglient kid gets drunk and runs somebody over it seems more understanable that the punishment would be harsher for attempted murder.
