What is an average price to clean a house? ?

In New York. Big houses upstate. Because right now it's like 40 bucks and no tip. I feel like Cinderella but do an immaculate job. Is this 40 bucks right? And are there usually contracts between the cleaner and a company? Because if I only get 2 houses I can clean both and sometimes only get a 60 pay check. ( not complaining just wonder if it's normal in New York)
