How come my teddy bear hamster doest like to be picked up?

I've only had her for not even 3 days. What should I do? When i was at the pet store i picked her up but she jumped out of my hands and fell maybe like 4ft on the floor...but she was ok...but i really like her so i got her but later the same day my brother had her and she did the same thing but this time it was maybe like 2ft but every time he got her she would jump and run and she made like a cat noise it was weird..shes only a baby and the pet store said the got her the same day i was there...should i give her back and get a older one that has been picked up a lot? or are boy teddy bear hamsters better? its my first hamster so yea :/ help plzz thanks :]
