Has anyone used polyester resin on a smc jet ski hull and it worked ?

ive heard some people say it wont stick very well to a smc hull ,then ive had people say they used polyester resin on a jet ski over 10 yrs ago and its still in good shape , both these people are trust worthy people but i need some more answer's .
