I have just sunk a lot of $$ into fixing my Chevy S10 truck, 2WD, 4 Cyl. Then I found out that it has an oil pan leak. Mechanic #1 wants $600-$700 to fix it. Mechanic #2 said it was a $1100 job. They both said that labor was the main cost because the engine has to be taken out, etc. Can I at least slow the oil leak somehow, until I can afford the oil pan gasket job? Would an oil additive work, or a higher viscosity oil? If so, what? "Lucas oil stabilizer", or a 20W50 oil, or something else, or nothing?
